Salvaged Photo!

Another picture I rescued from my box of old photos that was under the leaky roof. I nearly cried when I realized this one was barely touched.

Because these are my precious twins.
A long time ago.
In a place far away ...
In a different life ...

Weren't they cute???

Advertisement, old magazine

All I can think is ... I HATE these styles. The lady on the left looks like a square box, while the poor woman on the right is cinched in so tight it's a wonder her hips aren't exploding!

sigh, Blue Jeans for me, baby!

Goodwill Scrapbook, Page 6, Final Page

This baby picture was newer than the rest I found in the album, and had no label.
Sigh.

"Larry - Market St., SE ?"

"Mom, Grandma '49"

"Sybil, Grandma '49"

"Larry, Me '51"

This is it, the final page of old photos I found in the scrapbook at the Goodwill surplus store.
Maybe it's time to do more shopping?
What else ... will I find? ...
You'll be the first to know! Um, maybe second, er ... well, you will find out eventually!

Goodwill Scrapbook, Page 5

"Marilynn, Linda, Skipper"

"Marilyn, 11 years"

"Larry - 11-12 years"

"Cheryl & kitten - '52"

"Me, Grandma '51"

I love the young lady in the bottom photo - her hairstyle, her shy smile, her beautiful dress, but most of all, the way her feet are turned in (she was probably nervous about having her picture taken).

Maybelline advertisement, and then some!

When I first decided to post this advertisement for Maybelline, I was going to make a silly comment about their choice of words - "NOTHING does so much for a woman" ...

Then I started reading the story about womens' intuition that is covering most of the page. These stories about Doris Day, Natalie Wood and Jane Wyman made me stop cold.

Be sure to enlarge this page and read about these wonderful women and their experiences with intuition. Hair-raising!

Advertisement, 1956, Toward The Unknown

Toward the Unknown, 1956 - "This high-flying thriller uses footage of the USAF Thunderbirds in action--an interesting and authentic look into the world of Air Force test pilots. Set at Edwards Air Force base in California, the story centers on a dishonored pilot who is no longer allowed to fly. It seems that as a Korean POW he was brutally tortured and brainwashed until he could bear no more and he eventually cracked. Though it has been many years, he wants to clear his name and fly again. Unfortunately a general fears the pilot could again lose it during the testing of a highly experimental plan. Fortunately, the general's secretary is the former girl friend of the pilot and she convinces the general that he is rock solid. The pilot then sets out to prove it for himself. James Garner made his big screen debut in this film."

1949 Adventure in Baltimore

Adventure in Baltimore, 1949 - "In 1905, teenaged Dinah Sheldon is an aspiring artist and budding suffragette. This is sufficiently scandalous, though her minister father takes a more lenient view. But her imaginative painting, showing a young male friend with exposed chest and (ahem) limbs, really blows the roof off."

My, how times have changed!!

"Cheryl, Lyle, Bobby '49"

These shots are so precious - especially the first one ... the look of utter joy on poor Larry's face as he falls over ... well, it's just too cute!

Goodwill Scrapbook, Page 2

"Donnie & Marilynn"

"Jerry's 8th Birthday Party"

The first photo is my favorite of this set - mostly because of the little girl and the dog standing on rounds of wood being cute.

Treasures from Goodwill Scrapbook

Larry & Jim

I love the old jeans they are wearing. And the way the shadow depicts a very old-fashioned camera!

Larry and Gene at Gene & Aunt Lenora's

I found a scrapbook at the Goodwill Surplus store some time back. The pictures had been removed. As I paged through, I noticed several pages in the middle were stuck together. I pulled them apart, and found more than 20 old photos that someone missed. I pulled them out and bought them, because I couldn't bear to have them shredded.

I will start with these, and hopefully post more as I can.

German Countryside

I found this photo in my box of pictures that got wet from a dripping roof.

What memories! This was taken from the balcony of the apartment I lived in while in Germany. We could look off across the field, and liked to watch the high speed train that raced through several times a day.

Once we watched a hot air balloon drift over the field and out of sight.

More Fun With Old Advertisements

I think maybe these ads weren't put on this page at random.

Because apparently you can by a "Nite of Love" for $2.49 ... Of course that would be AFTER you were able to "Round Out ... Firm Up ... YOUR NATURAL BOSOM"!

I'm not sure if the Six-Piece Home Altar would be effective Before the "Nite of Love" with the Firmed Up Bosom ....

Or after.
