I was taking a walk along the trail at the Fanno Creek Nature Preserve in Tigard (Oregon). The day was warm, sunny and perfect.
Through the air wafted the heady scent of newly mown grass. Soon I could see a giant industrial sized lawnmower coming towards me - it's giant insect-like appendages outstretched, mowing and shredding everything within reach.
I looked to the side of the trail, hoping there was nothing in it's way. There was - a white grocery bag, full of something.
I picked it up and carried it back to my car. By now I was curious. What was in this bag?
Well, 3 pairs of pants (the exact size for my niece, who needs them!), a catalog, a used Tri-Met bus ticket, a pair of trendy shoes, and some little tiny hotel soaps and shampoo.
So I took it home, to distribute to those who need it. I'm sorry someone lost their clothes and things, but I don't feel guilty about taking them. After all, they would have been shredded in a few minutes anyway.

I think that since you rescued them, they are yours to do with what you please!
I think that is cool. I remember one time, when the kids were little, we had no money to buy clothes to replace the ones they were nearly grown out of.
We were driving back home on a backroad in Washington--came around a curve and there was this HUGE basket in the ditch. It was FILLED with clothing. All in the right sizes for all three kids. I always thought it was one of those miraculous things.
PS LOVE those shoes!!!
heheheh,
I have my own bag story. It was just after 9/11, I was in Singapore, I pick up from the car park what O thought was my girlfriend's bags. I was giving her a ride.
When I reached her place, she said the bag wasn't hers. I was shaking like hell. You see, at that time, we were told not to touch any bag but to report them.
Good thing your findings were good stuff,
I do too. A few days ago. Yet left it as it was. A few pieces of cloth, a thoothbrush and a plastic bag, seems indeed as if packed in a hurry.
Makes one indeed wonder what happened to leave those bags behind, if not asking, what made them to pack them in the first place.
A wonderful start into the weekend for you.
hope the owner of these stuffs will read this blog ... she'll know it isn't lost for everyone ;-)
So, here's "mine":
