1916 Mothers Magazine, Vapo Cresolene and Berthe May's Corset

I got a kick out of the ads on this page.
First, the Vapo Cresolene, which was advertised to be a treatment for whooping cough, scarlet fever, measles, diptheria, spasmodic croup, asthma and more.

Then there are Berthe May's Corsets ...
For maternity and ordinary wear!!!
Boy am I glad I never had to wear one of those!

Egad. Can you imagine wearing a corset while pregnant like the ad suggests? Good heavens! Me, too, Sissy--I'm glad to live in a day and age when being pregnant isn't something people try to hide! Gadfrey! (grin)

I had to add another comment, did you notice the ad about "homemaking, the new career???" And the article on top is all about boys' need to wrestle and flex their muscles. If ya have problem with your boy, send 'em out to wrestle, then they'll come back in a better frame of mind. The article is hilarious!
