Something Mailed ...

I found this in Ivor's papers (rescued from dumpster some years ago) and decided it was worth keeping. What originally caught my attention was the phone number.
167.
That's it. No area code, no prefix number ...
I think the world was smaller when this was mailed.

I'm not sure why Ivor kept it, except that he kept EVERYTHING.
I'm glad he did!

I like that it was postmarked
Independence, Oregon -
where my sister Beth lives!

What are the odds???

I remember when I was a kid and we had only 5 digit phone numbers in the town where I grew up, but I've never heard of only three!

Wow--isn't that funny? From Independence? Amazing.

Remember partylines? Or do you? I remember listening in on our neighbor's conversations. lol

That's interesting. By the way, I like that you put your occupation as "mom", that's the best job in the world in my opinion :)

Dearest Clytie,
That is so special that you found these special items. And yes, so ironic the way they are marked.
Yes, I remember party lines too! How fun!
